Since the nearest emergency room and hospital facilities are in Morehead City or New Bern, Newport Family Practice Center offers a needed service in the Newport community. This privately owned clinic, which has in-house X-ray and lab facilities as well as a pharmacy next door, is open from Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM except Wednesday 10:00 AM to 5:00 and Saturday, which is for walk-ins acute care only, is from 8:30 to 11 AM. The center prefers seeing patients who have made appointments in advance but will accept walk-ins in an emergency.
